Barrel No 13 is our first five-year whisky release - and a special one at that.
Bottled as a limited edition cask strength offering, this wonderfully complex whisky is a single-barrel selection and rests at 59% ABV. Originating as an experimental mash recipe in 2017, we crafted this spirit from a blend of Nova Scotian-sourced corn, wheat, malt and rye grain before allowing it to mature in a new American oak cask for over five years.
Upon sampling, we were delighted by the rich aromas reminiscent of fresh and dried stone fruit, honey, cacao and leather. Flavours of fig, pepper, caramel, vanilla and hazelnut appear on the palate, finishing exceptionally smooth at barrel-proof.
Dilution opens the spirit up with more developed characters of oak tannin, almond, maple syrup, pear and grassy floral notes. Perfect to enjoy neat, over ice or in your favourite stirred whisky cocktails.
